BB Backbone Corp.
BB Backbone Corp. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo / President: Junichi Miyagawa), as a wireless station not requiring a license, has conducted a technology verification in January 2018 for the “sXGP system” – a new wireless technology based on the TD-LTE system, using 1.9GHz band. Participants included the XGP Forum (Secretariat: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo / Chairman: Yoichi Maeda) and member companies. The favorable results are given below:
Promotion of the sXGP system
On March 31, 2017, the Information and Communications Council (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) recommended a partial revision of the technical verification procedures and on October 1, a ministerial ordinance to revise it was issued. As a result, a technology verification test was done based on the procedure by co-hosting the XGP Forum and HATS Conference (Secretariat: Communications and Information Network Association of Japan (CIAJ) / Chairman: Tadao Saito, Professor Emeritus, University of Tokyo) with the cooperation of BB Backbone.
The following is an outline of the technology verification and the test results.

4. Test organization
The XGP Forum (TWG-AdHoc 22 SWG for sXGP-AdHoc TG for interconnectivity) recruited those companies that wanted to participate. The test was done by those companies.
5. Test method
We conducted the connection test between all participating PBXs and the sXGP system based on the “Guidelines to execute the connection test between IP-PBX – sXGP terminals (Established by XGP Forum on December 6, 2017)” and “Guidelines (HATS-P-104-V1.0) to execute the connection test between PBX telecom servers to connect the terminal (sXGP protocol specification)”.

6. Test results
We conducted the test on seven test items (including some optional items) with five companies and five-types of IP-PBX. All five companies passed the test.

7. Future plan
This connection test will be continuously conducted in 2018 for the purpose of providing highly convenient products for users.
■About XGP Forum
XGP (eXtended Global Platform) Forum was founded as a new non-profitable organization evolving from PHS MoU (a narrowband TDD-based microcell system) in 2009. Having adopted the advantages of cell design-free structure, high- frequency utilization efficiency, and etc., XGP forum has standardized specifications and also promoted services of mobile broadband system fully compatible with TD-LTE. In recent years, we have been actively involved with the migration of 1.9GHz “radio stations of digital cordless telephones” to a new, LTE-based radio system (sXGP system).
The Promotion Conference for the Harmonization of Advanced Telecommunication Systems (HATS) was established in 1988 by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to verify the interoperability among communication devices. We had validated 1,539 devices (i.e., PBX, TV conference systems, optical access devices, faxes, etc.) by the end of 2016. We have co-hosted a connection test between IP-PBX – sXGP terminal and issued certificates to companies that have passed the test and joined HATS.
